Exciting news!

I fit into my wedding dress again! Yea! This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago. I have been dieting and exercising my brains out and finally, 11 months postpartum, I am almost the same size I was when I got married. I don't think the "girls" will ever be the same though. Just one of the many joys of motherhood...right?

Noah

A few weeks ago, we had to put our little dog Noah down. He had become really sick, and the vet could have done surgery to fix the problem, but we could not afford it. It was a very sad day for us. We got Noah just a few months after we were married and before I had Elle, he was my baby. He was a very good dog and we really enjoyed the time that we had with him. We love you Noah!
This is Noah with Elle and my friend Chrissie's daughter Rose. It's the last picture I got of him.

Bath Time Fun

Elle loves her bath time. Especially when she gets to play with her toys in the bath. I thought these pictures were pretty cute (not that I am biased or anything) so I had to post them.

Halloween

I know this is a little late, but here are some pics from Elle's first Halloween. She went as a fairy and Jake and I went as Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. No one could tell who we were. I guess I wasn't dressed immodestly enough. :) We went to our friends, Megan and Davey's house. They had a little Halloween party. Jake's younger brother was in town too so he went with us and my little sister, Kaitlyn, who is also friends with M & D went. It was pretty fun. We of course had to leave early due to being parents and all.
P.S. Jake's earrings are fake :)

Alone

Jake has been gone since Thursday for a PRSSA convention in Detroit. (PRSSA is a Public Relations student association that Jake is the Secretary for). The PRSA is there as well which is the national one for professionals. He has been making some really good contacts but I miss him a lot. I just have to look at it like a dry run for when he leaves for the Navy :( .
This is what I have been doing with my time while he has been gone:
Thurs I went to Gardner Village with my cousins Summer and Amber, their mom Tana and some members of the other side of the fam. I had so much fun!
On my way home I called my friend Megan Sellers/Guerrero and found out that she was super sick with the flu and that my other friend who also happens to be Megan's sister in law, Chelsey got it too. So Megan (who was feeling slightly better by then) and I went over to see if we could do anything for her. I felt so bad for the both of them.
Friday I went up to SLC with my friend/old roommate Chrissie and her husband Sevak. Sevak was translating for a reagional conference at the conference center, so while he did that Chrissie and I took our babes to the Gateway. We had a lot of fun shopping and eating Haagen Daas (sp?) Then we went to visit our other old roommate Elizabeth. Not the best angle of us :)
Saturday Megan, Chelsey and my sis Kaitlyn came over to help me clean my house and Kaitlyn and Megan pretty much did it all with out me. I know, they rock! I felt really sick the whole day, and still felt pretty yucky today. No I am not pregnant! Chelsey ended up staying the night and we watched the movie "Married Life". It was okay. Kind of boring. We still had a lot of fun though. We stayed up late talking probably till 2 or 3. I totally miss that part of living with girls.
It's been a fun, busy weekend and makes me less fearful about when Jake is gone on float. Thanks for all the fun, girls!

General Relief Society Broadcast

I was able to go with a couple of my sisters and my mom to the General Relief Society Broadcast. It was amazing. The spirit was so strong there. And I felt like all of the talks were written just for me.
On another note, right before my sister Ganel met my mom and I in the conference center, she ran into one of my best friends and is also my sister's sister-in-law, Christa Cobabe who is serving her mission on Temple Square. I guess you could call us sister's in law-law :) They made plans to meet up with all of us at a specific point afterward so that I could see her. It was so awesome. I hadn't seen her since I had Elle, so I am going to try and go up there on her Pday and take her and her companion out to lunch. I had so much fun.
After the broad cast, my sister Kaitlyn, my mom and I went out to eat at Market Street Grill. Yummy! Here is a pic from the broadcast last year and this year.

Elle Teasing Noah

So Elle figured out how to dangle her food over the side of her high chair and tease Noah. She thinks it is the most hilarious thing ever. I think this is just a preview of the little handful she will be in a couple of years. She is already so independent. Just like her papa :) Enjoy the video!

California Trip (again)

Once again it has been almost a month since my last post. I went to California for a week to help my sister Carmel get settled into her new house and for Emerson's blessing. It was such a fun trip. I was so grateful to be there. Here are a few pics. My cousin Amber and my little brother Derek drove out with me. I wasn't able to get any pictures of Carmel's two other boys, Ethan and Preston simply because they are 7 and 8 years old :)
P.S.
Sorry to those of you that I was not able to see while I was out there. I was there to help my sister so I didn't call anyone.

Family

This past Monday my grandparents were in town. They had just gotten back from a family reunion that was held in England. All the family in the area got together for dinner and I prepared a little lesson for family home evening. All in all, it turned out a huge success. All the girl cousins decided to take some pics, and we got a little goofy. As girls sometimes do...:) I had so much fun. But it made me really miss the family that could not be there (Carmel). Hopefully someday (like when Jake retires from the Navy) we can all live by each other. Until then, all you family that live near by, let's make this a habit! Also, if any of you family members want copies of these pictures you can download them off our flickr account by clicking on that picture in the slide show and then clicking open photo in new window. On the flickr site click "All Sizes" above the photo to download it full size.

Last Weekend

This last weekend was insane! Actually this whole week has been crazy. And this weekend will be very busy as well. Which is why I am finally posting at 1;30 in the morning.
But seriously, last weekend was out of control. We were able to go to our friend Scotty's wedding at the Manti temple at 10:30 am on sat. which meant we had to leave our house by around 8 or 8:30 ready to go. These amazing pictures are from right after the wedding. Thank you Sienna! Our camera finally gave up the ghost that morning, so we were not able to take any pictures our selves. Anyway, I am getting off track. We got home at around 2:15 took the dog on a walk, grabbed wedding gifts. Tried to go buy a camera, but nothing was priced very well. Drove up to Sandy, went to my friend Megan's wedding. Then went straight to Scotty's reception, and then straight to Jake's grandparents 50th wedding anniversary.
On Sunday, we had a baby blessing and a missionary farewell. And this week, we recarpeted the basement in our rental property that Jake owns with his uncle. And then tonight and tomorrow, we are cleaning the entire place. Cause let's face it. 10 single guys living together? Nasty!!!!
I hope I don't sound like I am complaining. Things are wonderful...just really busy:) So bear with me if I cannot update my Blog as often as I would like.
P.S. In The picture of Elle by herself, Jake was holding her. She is not that advanced...yet :)

Old Friends

We had our friends Chrissie and Sevak over for dinner last week sometime (I don't remember which day) and we had so much fun! Chrissie and I were roommates back in the day and we both have baby girls that are just a couple of months apart. It's nice to have so many friends near by with babies near Elle's age. Anywho, I made the most delicious chicken. I hope I don't sound cocky It was all due to the recipe. I didn't do anything special. Anyway here is the recipe and a pic of Chrissie and I with our babes...I mean babies :)

Honey Baked Chicken:
1/4 cup butter/marg
1/2 cup honey
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard (I used honey mustard)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. curry powder (you can't even taste the curry for those of you who don't like it)
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Prehest oven to 375 degress, place butter/marg in a 9' square pan in oven to melt for about 5 mins. Stir honey, mustard, salt and cury powder into melted butter/marg. Coat both sides of chicken pieces with mixture as you place it in the pan. Bake 20 mins, turn and bake 15 mins more. (It took mine a little longer to cook, but they were really thick chicken breasts).Serve with rice or noodles.

2 Years!

We had our 2 year anniversary on the 15th. I know that it doesn't seem like a long time to some of you veterans, but it seems like a very long time to me. And yet at the same time, those 2 years went by so quickly. I know that this sounds so cliche, but it seriously seems like just yesterday I was checking Jake out at his house for the first time :) What a babe!
Anyway, we had a wonderful evening. Our friends Megan and Davey Guerrerro were kind enough to watch Elle while we went out. (Thank you!) And being the new mom that I am, we were not out for very long.
Jake surprised me by taking me out to dinner at a very ritzy place called Chef's table. It's pricey, but worth every penny. The food was Amazing! I felt so pampered. The hostess pulls your chair out for you and even places your napkin for you on your lap. Anyway, if any of you can ever go there, I would definitely recommend it.
Jake also Bought me this beautiful bouquet.
All in all, it was wonderful. I never thought that I would be so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and such a beautiful little girl. I know that I take them both for granted sometimes. But I love them both dearly. These past 2 years have been amazing and I'm looking forward to the future and what it will bring.

Elle

So I really haven't had anything going on that was interesting enough to blog about. WHich is why I haven't posted in a little while. I've been very busy and Elle has been trying to crawl and is getting into everything! Her favorite is power cords. If she sees one, she will do anything she can to get to it and put it in her mouth. I of course do all I can so that she does not succeed. So I am always running around moving things in the house.
Here are some recent pictures of her.

This is Elle in her high chair after she ate a biter biscuit. She made such a mess!

Elle is truly my daughter. Here she is, all shopped out :)

Below is a video of Jake and Elle. Every time Jake would blow air in Elle's face, She would stick out here tongue.

Memories

I got this from Becky! Hope there are some fun memories out there!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

California trip

California was so much fun! I was able to be there when my adorable nephew Emerson was born. He is sooo cute! It was a nice relaxing trip. I made sure to not pack my sched. too tight. Sorry to those of you I was not able to see this time. Here are some fun pics. of the trip. Jake and I have some close friends that moved to San Francisco for dental school so we went down and stayed with them for a night. The next day we were able to see my brother Danny who is living down there for a while. We went to eat at the most delicious restaraunt ever called Capurro's. If you ever have a chance to eat there, take it!
(We ate at In-N-Out on the way home and I had to Document it. :))

Fourth of July

The fourth of July actually started on the third for us. I went outside to take Noah potty (our dog) and I heard this weird sound. When I looked up, there was a huge hot air balloon right above our house, about 20 or 30 feet up. There was one directly across the street from us too. You can see them in the slide show.
We went to the Real Salt Lake soccer game that night with some of our friends. If any of you live in the area you should definitely go to a game sometime. They are having a pretty good season and its a lot of fun. They put on a fireworks show at the end which was pretty good. I'm kind of tainted though when it comes to judging fireworks. I grew up going to Lake Tahoe for the lights on the lake (I think that's what it's called) show which is the best I have yet to see. We had a lot of fun. Xango has this deal occasionally where you get $20 seats, a xango/real shirt and meal vouchers for $15. Pretty cheap!
On the actual 4th, we went to a BBQ that a couple in our ward was having. My sis. Kaitlyn was able to com along which was way fun. We wanted to go see the Stadium of Fire fireworks show after the BBQ, but we only made it to the tennis courts on campus before they started. We could still see a good deal of it, it was just kinda far away. There is a pic. of Elle watching them in the slide show. She was totally focused in on them.
After the fireworks, we came home and played Guitar Hero with another couple in our ward. All in all, it was a pretty fun 4th!

It's Been a Month!

I am really terrible about posting. I know I say that probably in every post. I tell myself all the time that I will be better about posting on here, but something always comes up. Anyway, here are some recent pictures from our various adventures.
So first off....I rode Jake's scooter all by myself. And I'm sure it was very entertaining for everyone present. I have to admit. It was kind of scary at first, but after a little while, it was a blast!
Elle is eating solids now. This is her eating carrots. There is no keeping this child clean while she eats! She has also been sitting up on her own for a couple of weeks now.

We went to Jake's family reunion last weekend at Cherry Hill. We camped out (which my back was not too happy about) but we had a lot of fun.
My cousin, Summer turned 30 on June 26 and a bunch of us went up to Salt Lake to be in the audience for "Good Things Utah". It was so fun. We went up and met all of the hosts afterward. My sister Ganel-Lyn is really good friends with Angie (second one in from left), so it was fun chatting with her. We went Macaroni Grill afterward for a yummy lunch. So far it has been a very busy summer!

Death Cab for Cutie!

Jake and I went to thanksgiving point on Memorial day and saw Death Cab for Cutie in concert. They are one of our favorite bands and they sing our song. I know, totally cheesy.
It was so much fun! The weather was not the best. It was 32 degrees and had been raining all day so the grass was soaked. But we came prepared with a blanket and garbage bags to sit on. We ran into one of Jake's mission companions and a couple of my friends from my Raintree days. (For all you people that don't live in Provo, Raintree is a single student apartment complex.) Jake's grandparents watched the babe and the pup for us. It was so nice to be able to go out by ourselves for a change. The last time we were able to do that was a week after the baby was born.
Anyway, here are some photos of the concert, and a video of them singing our song. It's not the entire song because our camera ran out of batteries.

P.S. There is also a video of Jake giving Elle a lemon. It's funny.
P.P.S. The lemon was not my idea.

Okay, the death cab video is not uploading. If you want to see it, it is on our Flickr account.

Scooter Accident

My husband was in a scooter accident today. He was driving home from his internship in American Fork (that is about a half hour from us). He was going about 45 mph and hit a big patch of oil. He's fine. He stood right up after the accident and drove his scooter home. I made him go to the Dr. and they put some bandages on him. The Dr. said that if the cut on his right knee had be much deeper, he would have needed a skin graft. He was very blessed because this could have been a whole lot worse! There are some pictures below just because I know some of Jakes family wanted to see them.

California Trip

Wow. It has been way too long since my last post.
I went to CA for a couple of weeks on April 12th for my nephew Ethan's baptism. It was so great to see my family and friends. I was able to spend alot of time with one of my best friends (who also happens to be my big sis) Carmel.
Life has been pretty busy. I feel like there is not enough time in the day. I've also been dealing with some post-partum depression which makes it even harder to get things done. Sometimes it's hard to just get out of bed in the morning. I hope I don't sound too negative. I have a wonderful life. I feel so very blessed, which is why this is so confusing to me.
Anyway! Here are some pics from my trip and just some recent ones of Elle.

Jake Getting sworn in

So Jake was finally sworn into the navy last friday. We started the process of applying for the program over a year ago and all our efforts finally paid off! We dressed Elle in a little sailor dress for the occasion. Jake's awesome parents drove down from Pocatello to be there and his grandparents were able to come as well. We all went out to dinner afterward and then his parents drove right back. It's so wonderful to have such supportive inlaws.
So Jake won't have to do anything for the military until he graduates. But he's classified as enlisted right now, so they are paying us. I feel so blessed. Because he is able to do this, I am able to stay home and care for our beautiful little girl. I know I will probably be cursing the military when I am separated from the man I love, but right now, I am so grateful.

Blessing

I know I haven't made a post in a very long time. So sorry about that!
Elle was blessed on March 2nd by her papa. It was such a beautiful blessing. I am so grateful to have the priesthood in my home. We had a lot of family in town. My dad, grandma Crosby and sister Carmel all came out from CA. And since Elle was blessed the same day as my cousin Summer's son Beckham, her family were able to be there as well. It was so great that Beckham and Elle were able to share that special day. Pictures will follow soon. I'm waiting to get them from my MIL.

In other news, Jake is hopefully going to be sworn into the Navy this friday. We are waiting for the go ahead from the navy board. Keep your fingers crossed!

Snowmobile Weekend

S7000508, originally uploaded by jaker1983. Click the picture to go to Flickr.

Last weekend, on Presidents Day, Elle went for her first ride on a snowmobile. She really didn't know she was on the snowmobile because she was still in her car seat, but it's fun to say that she had her first ride at five weeks. I am feeling kind of sore from being a little too crazy, but I'm alright. We had a lot of fun in the snow this weekend.

Baby Weight

I went to my first weight watchers meeting today. I have never been so motivated to lose weight. I am so jealous of all those girls that have a baby and then are in their pre-pregnancy clothes a week later. So not fair. Now I'm just waiting on the go-ahead from my dr. to start working out. I can't wait!
Elle is doing great. She's off of oxygen and she should be off of her apnea monitor this coming monday. She up to 11.5 pounds. and already in 3 month old clothing. Next pregnancy I am going to insist that they induce me early!
We're going to be blessing Elle on March 2nd. She and my cousin Summer's son Beckham are being blessed on the same day. I think it's so fun. And my Sister Carmel, my dad and my grandma are all going to be coming out from CA for the occasion. I can't wait to see them! And Carmel finds out what she's having next wednesday so we can go baby clothes shopping while she's out here. Yea!

Elle was in the hospital

Elle and Shevaun have had a tough week this week. We found out on Monday, at Elle's two week checkup, that Elle has RSV. The doctor immediately sent Shevaun and Elle to the hospital, and he made Elle wear an oxygen mask on the way from his office to the hospital. She was there until late Wednesday when they finally let us take her home, but she is still hooked up to monitoring equipment and she has to wear an oxygen tube still. Not so fun. I have placed some pics below, they aren't on flickr, so just click on each pic to see a larger version.

Isn't she so cute, even with her oxygen tubes.

Here's a pic of Shevaun holding the babe.

Another one of her just looking at me.

The Latest

Well Elle is sick. Her papa and I were both sick when she was born so I'm sure that's where she got it. The poor little love can hardly eat because she can't breathe very well out her nose. The dr. said she was doing well but to keep an eye on her. She now weighs 10.5 pounds and is an inch longer. She's also in the 97th percentile for height. We may have a future model on our hands......

This last week was an interesting week for me. I was in the hospital Wednesday night with a fever of 101.5. The verdict was that I had lost a lot of blood during the delivery. My hemadacrit (not sure if that is spelled right) level was at 29 and they do blood transfusions at 27. So that explains why I was so tired and weak. They have me taking iron supplements and it seems to be helping.

My mother in law has been in town all week and has been a huge help. My house has never been so clean and organized. I wish she didn't have to leave.

I need to go now and take care of the babe. she just woke up.

Elle has Arrived

Elle has arrived. She popped out yesterday at 2:19 p.m. weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs. 11 oz. Needless to say she gave her mom a hard time while coming out. She is 21 inches long, and a very happy and healthy baby. Mom is doing fine too, she's just a little tired.

Thanks to all of you that visited us in the hospital or have rendered us service through out the pregnancy, it wasn't an easy pregnancy for Shevaun, but she loves little Elle and says it was all worth it.

We will post more pictures on flickr.com when we can.

Still pregnant.

So I'm still pregnant. The baby is measuring like she is going to weigh around 9 pounds when she's born. I'm due on saturday but my dr. thinks that I will probably have to have a c-section the middle of next week. Crappy! I guess things could be worse.
Jake started school this week and it is already turning out to be a really busy semester. But he only has a year and a half left. Yea!
Nothing else new is going on here. Just waiting impatiently and uncomfortably to have this baby!
